Leadership Worthington Graduates Class of 1994

Barbara Beymer
Home Network Specialist and Business Referral Specialist, Leadership Management Team, Action for Children
Barb's volunteer activities include the Epilepsy Association, "Golf Around Columbus", School Challenge, Meals on Wheels Service Delivery and Youth Council Member, nursery worker, and Childrens' Education Committee of Linworth United Methodist Church. She is a member of the National Association for the Education of Young Children, Columbus Association for Education of Young Children, CHOICES and Worthington Schools PTA. She and her husband have 3 children, Jennifer, a student at Barb's alma mater, Marshall University, Alan, a senior at Worthington Kilbourne and Betsy, an eighth grader at Perry Middle School.

Steve Brown
Staff underwriter, Farmers Insurance Group
At Ohio State University Steve was co-captain and award winner for the Varsity Lacrosse team. He is now a member of Toastmasters International, Membership Chairman for the Worthington Jaycees and the Pittsburgh Club of Columbus. Special Olympics, Walk-America and Adopt-a-Highway are among several volunteer activities. Steve lives in the Worthington area with his wife of 4 years.

Leland Evans
Litigation Attorney, Porter, Wright, Morris & Arthur
Lee is a graduate of The Ohio State University and Case Western Law School. Litigation involving complex products liability, toxic tort and environmental law is his area of expertise. Prior to his return to private practice at Porter, Wright, Lee worked as in-house litigation counsel for Ashland Chemical Inc. where he received the President's Award as an outstanding employee. He is a volunteer with A Special Wish Foundation. Lee has been married to his wife, Gretchen, for ten years. They have two children, Erica, age 4, and Mark, age 11 months.

Leslie Zollinger Gerrity
Realtor, Cam Taylor Co.
A native of Columbus, Leslie's city-wide volunteer and leadership involvement has been varied, intense and valued. In recent years she has offered her leadership skills to many professional organizations. In 1991 she was President of the Greater Worthington Area Realtor's Association and in 1991 and 1992 was the recipient of the Columbus Board of Realtors Volunteer Service Award. She is serving as a Trustee of the Ohio Association of Realtors and the Columbus Board of Realtors from 1993-95. In her next life Leslie will utilize her pilot's license and take to the skies with reckless abandon. She and her husband, Tim, an attorney, have two daughters, Kim and Kelly, one son, Will, and one granddaughter, Jessica.

Mark Huber
Investment Representative, Edward D. Jones & Co.
At Lehigh University Mark majored in International Business and German, studying in Freiburg, Germany for 6 months. In one short year in our community, Mark has organized and established the Edward D. Jones & Co. branch office in Worthington. As a member of the Worthington Area Chamber of Commerce he has served on the Golf Outing Committee and is a Trustee of the Worthington Convention and Visitors Bureau. He is single and enjoys golfing, swimming, hunting and fishing.

Dianne M. Klisares
Teacher for nine years, four years in second grade and five years as director/teacher of preschools
Dianne has been fortunate to be able to stay home to raise her children. During those years she was involved in numerous volunteer activities assuming many leadership roles. One specific volunteer organization which she especially enjoyed was teaching a course to parents called "Talking With Your Kids About Alcohol." Over a five year period she taught fifteen four session classes. She and her husband, Pete, have one son and two daughters, Susie and Missy, who were both married within the last year.

Alycen H. Mansell
Learning specialist for students experiencing learning frustrations
Alycen received a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education from the Ohio State University and is finishing a Masters Degree in Gifted Education from Ashland University. She hold a special interest in Gifted Learning Disabled students. At present, she is involved in her own practice out of her home. Her extensive volunteer work occurs primarily in the area of the arts. She is the mother of three young adults.

Wayne I. McCoy
Chief of Police of Worthington
Wayne graduated from the 160 th class of the F.B.I. National Academy after receiving his B.A. from Capital and MA in Public Administration from the Ohio State University. After 18 years with the Westerville Division of Police he came to Worthington in 1992. He serves as a consultant for the Ohio Association of Chiefs of Police, assessor for the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Vice President of the State of Ohio Accreditation Resource and is a member of the Ohio Crime Prevention Association. He and his wife, Sherry, have four children, Ashley, age 9, Little Miss Franklin County 1993, Lindsay, age 6, Tiny Miss Westerville 1992, Chase, age 4, The Soccer Kid, and Keaton, 22 months, 35 pounds of liquid nitrogen.

Barbara O'Brien
Career Consultant, Center for New Directions
Barbara serves as an active volunteer on education, mental health and homelessness issues. She has been President of Worthington PTA Council and Evening Street PTA. Other activities include working as a volunteer and board member for Suicide Prevention Services, Interfaith Hospitality, Habitat for Humanity and Columbus Housing Partnership. She has organized support groups in Minneapolis, Chicago and Columbus for people in career and life transitions. Barb and her husband Dan have two sons, Matt, 13 and Chris, 9.

Teresa Podolski
Internal Communications Program Coordinator, Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation
Teresa graduated from the Ohio State University with a B.A. in journalism/public relations with an emphasis in business/marketing. She has worked on various fund raising and community service activities such as chairing the Operation Feed Campaign for the BWC, coordinating over 40 agencies in the county wide food collection. Her special awards and honors include the Ad Fed Addy Award, the PRSSA Scholarship and the Leon Abbott Scholarship. She was recently married, May 9, 1992, to Joe, who works for the City of Columbus.

Todd Price
Commercial Banking Officer, Huntington National Bank
A 1983 graduate from Worthington High School, Todd received his bachelor's degree in finance from Ohio State in 1987. He interned with the Federal Reserve in Miami, Florida before going with the Huntington as a Relationship Banker Candidate in 1988. Prior volunteer experiences include being appointed as a Loaned Executive for the United Way. He is currently a Worthington Chamber member and active in various capacities for Junior Achievement. In his spare time he likes to play golf, work-out and spend time outdoors.

Bobbi Richards
Director of Public Services, Worthington Public Library
Bobbi received her B.A. in Psychology from the College of Wooster and her MLS in Library Science from the University of Kentucky. She is currently involved in leadership roles at Boulevard Presbyterian Church as an Elder, liturgist trainer, small group leader and Apples of Gold Teacher. She coordinated Boulevard's 1993 community Easter celebration. She is active in the choir and handbell choir. She has also served a director of summer camps at Geneva Hills Conference Center. Bobbi is married with three children.

Beverly Joy Jeffries Richardson
Sixth Grade Language Arts, Social Studies, Kilbourne Middle School
After graduating from Kent State University with a B.S. in Special Education and M.Ed. in Guidance and Counseling and Special Education, Bev hit the road,living all over the country. In California and Delaware she was involved in local and state educational organizations, ethnic education associations, political campaigns, professional sorority, and local community groups, serving as chair, on board of directors and in leadership roles in many situations. She received the Cleveland Foundation Fellowship, is a Jennings Scholar, Master Teacher, University of Berkeley, and Demonstration Teacher, Special Education, Cleveland, Ohio. She is a Masters Women Marathon Runner. Bev is divorced with one stepson, two German Shepherds and two senior parents. She is a writer of ethnic youth plays, family prose, and composer of family and friends scrapbooks. Her lucky number is 7.

Christopher Rosen
Realtor, Cam Taylor Co.
Previous to graduating from The Ohio State University in Political Science, Chris spent two years attending the United States Naval Academy. His military training included a one month duty aboard the U.S.S. Archerfish, a nuclear submarine. At the Naval Academy he played on the Varsity Tennis and Squash teams. He is moving to Worthington and through Leadership Worthington hopes to become involved in our community.

Kathleen M. Sharp
English Teacher, Worthington Kilbourne School
Kathleen received her B.S. from Bowling Green and her M.S. and Ph.D. from Iowa State. After studying in England for a year she began her career as a teacher and consultant. She serves as a Traynor House Board Member, Consultant to Columbus Sports Board, is a graduate of Project Diversity, Past Vice President of the YWCA of Ames, Io., Who's Who Among Human Services Professionals (1986-87) and member of the Society for International Development and Delta Sigma Theta. Her 2 and 4 year olds occupy much of her time.

Janice Spisich
Dietitian, State of Ohio
After graduating from Bowling Green with a B.S. in Dietetics, Janice interned at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati. She returned to Wheeling where she counseled people on low cholesterol, weight loss and diabetic diets. In 1991 she moved to Ohio and now works for the State of Ohio. Having recently moved to Worthington where she lives with her sister and cat, Ce'Ce', Janice hopes to become involved in the community from the information and exposure Leadership Worthington will offer. She enjoys jogging, walking, singing and traveling. Her future goal is to have her own business.

Kathleen L. Starks
Guidance Counselor, Perry Middle School
After graduating from Worthington High School and Bowling Green in speech and Hearing Pathology, Kathy returned to Ohio State to get her M. A. in Guidance and Counseling.She is presently associated with an organization called Sacred Sisters and Brothers which is a mentoring group for inner-city youth. In 1992 Kathy received an award for academic achievement from The Ohio State University African American Student Services. She enjoys tennis walking and bicycling.
