Leadership Worthington Graduates Class of 1995
Eric D. Babbert
Vice President Area Sales Manager, Society National Bank
Eric grew up in the Columbus area and has attended Columbus State. His current position with Society National Bank manages 13 branches. Eric's major volunteer role at this time is with Rosemont Center where he will be chairing the Racing for Rosemont for the second year. Eric is the past president of the Grove City Kiwanis and a member of the Grove City Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.
Melanie S. Bovett
Melanie is a Worthington High School and Miami University graduate and has taken a year off to be a stay-at-home mom. Prior to fall, 1993 she worked for Sprint as National Account Manager, managing a $65 million customer account. One of her current volunteer activities is with the Worthington School District/Bluffsview School on the Technology Design Team. Melanie considers her #1 highest responsibility to date as raising her son.
Candy Brooks
Staff writer, This Week in Worthington
Candy is a long-time resident of Worthington and as past editor/reporter for both Worthington Suburbia News and This Week in Worthington, she knows what's going on. Candy received her B.A. from Ohio State University in journalism and is a member of the Society of Professional Journalists. Candy looks forward to the day she can take a more active role with volunteer organizations in the community rather than as a "professional observer." She is the mother of Peter Brooks Rodocker, 24, a student at Capital University Law School.
Jane Chapman
Office Manager, Dr. Thelma D. White
Jane graduated from the University of Illinois after attending the University of Chicago and Ohio Wesleyan University. She worked as a staff aide for Congressman Chalmers Wylie until his retirement in 1992. Jane was Chairman of the Worthington Arts Council Performance Series and Folklife Fest for two years. She has also been active with Buckeye Boys Ranch Service Board, the Worthington Songsters, and the Northwest Worthington Civic Association. Jane has three children, Graham, Ralph, Jr., and Pam and a doberman, Heidi. She loves gardening, reading, feeding the birds, sewing, knitting, antiques, and learning.
Scott J. Doellinger
Vice President, Healthcare Planning, Design Group, Inc.
Scott graduated from The Ohio State University with a B.S. and M.S. in architecture. He is the immediate past president of the Centennial Kiwanis, a member of St. John's Church and The Columbus Chapter and National Academy of Architecture for Health of the American Institute of Architects. Scott and his wife live in a self-built home with their two children, Jeff, a sophomore at Thomas Worthington High School and Kurt, a third grader at Wilson Hill Elementary School.
Andrea Englehart
Clinical Research Associate, Ross Products Division of Abbott Laboratories
Andrea has attended Miami University, Capital University (BSN, Nursing), and Ohio State University (MS, Nursing). She has received the Critical Care Nursing Certification, as well. In 1993 and 1994 Andrea was awarded the Medical Nutritional Award of Excellence. Her research emphasis is on the development of laparoscopic nutritional devices. Andrea works for the American Heart Association as a fundraiser, the American Red Cross on blood drives, and the Community Kitchen with meal preparation and serving and other special projects. Andrea and her husband Scott enjoy snow skiing, water skiing, horseback riding and running.
Louis C. Flocken
Program Manager, Communications and Marketing, The Ohio State University Medical Center
Lou received his B.S. and M.A. from The Ohio State University. At the University Medical Center, he produces staff recognition, community affairs, and marketing communications projects. He has also been active in several campus-wide service projects. Lou serves as a board member for the Ohio Chapter of the International Special Events Society. His young family includes life-partner Jennifer and their two children who attend elementary school. Together, they stay active with YMCA Indian Guide/Princesses, Worthington Youth Boosters sports activities, and family outlings. Lou is active at Worthington Presbytrerian Church. He is the immediate past president of the choir and has been on various committees including serving as secretary for the recent senior pastor search committee. Lou enjoys skiing, playing golf, and computers.
Judy Gray
Real Estate Agent, Corporate Services, Cam Taylor Co., Realtors
Judy received her Bachelor's Degree from West Virginia University. She is active in the Worthington Presbyterian Church, where she has been a Deacon; Childhood League Fundraising Committee Chair; and Worthington Activity Club, where she was TWHS Prom Afterhours Chair. Her greatest joy in life has been raising her two daughters, Tracy, 22, and Amy 19.
Judith Dee Hazelton
Judy received her B.A. and M.S. in Education from Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana. She has taught high school English in several schools, most recently in West Bloomfield, Michigan, where she was department chair. Judy's past community involvement has included the League of Women Voters, president; Creative Arts Council board member; and active church membership as Elder and Trustee. She considers her highest achievement that of founding a parent cooperative nursery school in Bluffton, Indiana. Music is a big part of Judy's life. She sang in the Singing Hoosiers in college and in the church choir now. Judy and her husband, Phil, have 4 grown sons and 1 daughter.
Philip M. Hazelton
Senior Minister, Worthington Presbyterian Church
Phil grew up in Lancaster, Ohio and attended Ohio State University. He received his Master's and Doctorate from Pittsburgh Seminary . Phi has coordinated "Michigan Week" in West Bloomfield, Michigan, been president of the Park Board, Mental Health Association, and Creative Arts Council. He has also been active with drug rehabilitation programs and received the Michigan Governor's Minute Man Award for community service in 1992. Phil and his wife Judy want to become acquainted with their new community, to establish new ties with their neighbors, to ascertain local needs, and to become active and integrated into Worthington.
Linda A. Hinton
Bank Manager, National City Bank
Linda is manager of the largest retail branch for National City Bank, Columbus. She received the associate of the Year for retail Banking in 1986 and has been active with Easter Seals as a V.I.P. Panelist on their telethon. Linda has been involved on several Powell Chamber of Commerce committees and wants to become better acquainted with the Worthington Chamber and other civic activities. Linda is married with two children.
Daniel W. Huffman

Dan graduated from the University of Toledo with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a concentration in finance. Through his business fraternity at the University of Toledo, Dan initiated a program called the Shadow program. The program put 60 College of Business students together with 45 businesses to get a one day "real life" business experience. As a member of the Columbus Jaycees, he ran the Ten Outstanding Young Citizens Program (TOYC) for three years. Dan and his wife, Kathy, a registered nurse at The Ohio State University Hospitals, attend Worthington Christian Church.
Edward Lewis Johnston
Director of Operations, American Professional Investigators, Safelife Security Systems
Ed grew up in Worthington and graduated from Ohio State University. He has worked for the Madison County Sheriff's Department and Sharon Township Police Department. Ed is a member of the Ohio Vocational Association, American Society of Industrial Security, and the Columbus Claims Association. Ed is a trustee at Linworth Methodist Church. For the last two year Ed has been president of the Oxford Place Civic Organization
Alaine Miller
Attorney, Porter Wright, Morris & Arthur
Alaine is a graduate of the University of Michigan Law School and the College of William and Mary. Her areas of expertise include energy, telecommunications, and environmental regulation. Since moving to Ohio three years ago Alaine has been a department coordinator for Porter, Wright's Operation Feed and three United Way campaigns. Alaine is a member of the Ohio and American Bar Associations. She has been married to her husband, Kevin Milliken, for seven years.
Bonnie Beth Mitchell
Northwest Library Manager, Worthington Public Library
Bonnie received her Master's in Library Science from the University of Illinois after graduating from Kent State University, where she is also a part time faculty member in a joint venture with The Ohio State University. She has worked for the State Library of Ohio, OHIONET, and is past Executive Director for the Ohio Library Association. Bonnie considers her #1 volunteer activity the Central Presbyterian Church, where she is an ordained elder and deacon, and currently, secretary for the Board of Trustees. Her hobbies include tennis and needlework.
Jody Oates
Minister, Worthington United Methodist Church
Jody received a B.A. in psychology from Otterbein College and his Master of Divinity from Emory University. He served for two years on the Otterbein College Board of Trustees and received their Leadership Award. He is a member of the Deacon's Group (UMC), coordinator of the Worthington Youth Church Basketball League, the Worthington Community Coordinating Board, and the Worthington Pastor's Association.
Beverly Joy Jeffries Richardson
Sixth Grade Language Arts, Social Studies, Kilbourne Middle School
After graduating from Kent State University with a B.S. in Special Education and M.Ed. in Guidance and Counseling and Special Education, Bev hit the road, living all over the country. In California and Delaware she was involved in local and state educational organizations, ethnic education associations, political campaigns, professional sorority, and local community groups, serving as chair, on board of directors and in leadership roles in many situations. She received the Cleveland Foundation Fellowship, is a Jennings Scholar, Master Teacher, University of Berkeley, and Demonstration Teacher, Special Education, Cleveland, Ohio. She is a Masters Women Marathon Runner. Bev is divorced with one stepson, two German Shepherds and two senior parents. She is a writer of ethnic youth plays, family prose, and composer of family and friends scrapbooks. Her lucky number is 7.
William T. Rogers

William received his B.S. in Accounting from the University of Akron. His volunteer activities include board membership on the Marion Area Chamber of Commerce, a chapter president of the Ohio Society of CPAs, president of the Marion Kids for Christmas, president of the Marion Noon Kiwanis, and president of the Marion Country Club.
Elizabeth B. Samuels

Elizabeth graduated from Rice University with a B.A. in English and Behavioral Sciences. She is a member Potter's Creek Civic Association and Twig for Children's Hospital. She has been a member of the Navy Family Services, Public Relations Society of America and the International Association of Business Communicators.
Mark Sanders

Mark received his undergraduate degree from Bowling Green State University. He is an ordained deacon at Oakley Baptist Church, Vice President of the Oakley Experience Choir, and Vice President of the Oakley Men's Chorus, as well as a Sunday School teacher.
Bryon K. Spicer
President/Owner, Call Insurance Agency, Inc.
Bryon was educated in Ohio and Texas. Before moving to Worthington he was active in the American Red Cross as a CPR trainer, Springfield Chamber of Commerce, and the Springfield Jaycees, where he received the Outstanding JC of the Year and twice was honored with the Outstanding Men of America award.
Robert Wendling
Crew Chief, City of Gahanna, Parks Department
Rob has a multi-discipline educational background in horticulture and landscape architecture from Ohio State University, Lansing Community College, and Columbus State College. He helped develop a new pesticide manual for the State of Michigan. Rob has been very active with the Colonial Hills Civic Association as co-chair for the 4th of July Carnival, and most recently, as president. Rob belongs to the Ohio Parks and Recreation Association, Michigan Wildflower Association, and the Michigan Association of Nurserymen. Rob and his wife Mary Jo have two daughters and he enjoys white water rafting and gardening.
