Leadership Worthington Graduates Class of 1999

Matthew Anderson
President and Owner, Anderson's FrameDesign
Matt received a Bachelors Degree in Art History from Indiana University in 1988 and returned to his native Columbus to begin a career in art and picture framing sales. In 1991 he opened his own business - Anderson' FrameDesign, a custom picture framing studio. He has served many positions within community organizations such as the Worthington Area Chamber of Commerce and The Olde Worthington Business Association. He is also becoming recognized as a knowledgeable authority and collector of antique Disney toys.

Shannon J. Bauer
Banker: Senior; Huntington National Bank
Shannon has numerous credits in accounting and Finance from the American Investment Bankers College. She is a licensed mutual fund and insurance consultant. She has been named the Huntington Bank MVP for leadership. Shannon is a member of the Wilson Hill PTA, Worthington Woods Community, bank chairperson for the United Way campaign, and participated in the Adopt-a-School program.

Connie S. Bright
Controller, Worthington Machine Technology
Connie graduated from DeVry Institute with a B.A. in Accounting. She has worked for subsidiaries of Worthington Industries since 1985 in the plants and accounting positions. Connie has successfully completed supervisory training classes at Worthington Industries and completed tax preparation classes at H & R Block. She has also worked for H & R Block during the tax season. She has two children, a daughter who has just graduated from high school and a son who is entering his senior year. Connie enjoys bowling and an occasional white water rafting trip.

Jeanne Lay Browne
Director of Development, Arthritis Foundation
Jeanne graduated from Miami University with a B.S. in Applied Science. She was Director of Development for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society for eight years before joining the Arthritis Foundation where she is successfully implements special events, planned giving, corporate sponsorship, and public relations. Jeanne has been Chair of the Children's Hospital Memorial Tournament and chaired the Evening Street Special Friends Day. She enjoys gardening, golfing, and walking. Jeanne is married with four children (16, 16 1/2, 17, and 23).

Eric T. Davis
Webmaster, Worthington Public Library
Eric graduated from the Ohio State University with a B.A. in Music Education. He then went to Kent State University and received his M.S. in Library and Information Science. He has worked at Kent State as an Instructor, the Ohio Historical Society as a researcher, and Columbus State Community College as a Reference Librarian. He is a member of Beta Phi Mu, American Library Association, the Ohio Library Council, and the Ohio Genealogical Society. Eric has special interest in Ohio and American History, the civil War, the Indian Wars in Ohio, the classics in music, film, literature, and the visual arts, and creating computerized family trees.

Jose M. Echevarria
Sales Representative, Sanese Services
Jose graduated form California State Polytechnic University majoring in Technical Engineering and Business Management. He was the manager at Ralph's Grocery Comp[any, Southwest Regional Sales Manager for U.S. Borax and Chemical Corporation, and Regional Manager for Hershey Pasta Group. Jose is the Sanese Services captain for the American Heart Fund Walk and Roll and is vice-president for both the Thomas Worthington High School Softball and Volleyball boosters. He is also a member of Knights of Columbus.

Jennifer Ann Foust
Law Clerk, Law Office of Frank E. Todaro
Jennifer graduated from Denison University with a B.A. in Psychology and Speech/Mass Media Communication. She is attending Capital University's Law School. Jennifer has worked for Bob Evans Farms, Inc. as a claims and liabilities clerk and for Nutis Press, Inc. as a territory manager. During her college years she became a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority, Omicron Delta Kappa national leadership honorary and was named to Who's Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities. Jennifer is a member of the American Bar Association, Capital University Women's Law Association, Law Students for the Advancement of Ethics and Professionalism, and St. John's Episcopal Church.

Sandra Lynn Grant
Financial Planner, Steinhaus Financial Group
Sandy graduated from Miami University with a degree in Finance and Accountancy. She received her M.S. in Risk Management and Insurance from Georgia State University with a specialization in Employee Benefits and Financial Planning. She has worked in retirement planning and investment management services since 1988. Sandy is actively involved in The Junior Achievement program within the Worthington Schools, as well as the Junior League of Columbus and the Miami University Alumni Recruiting Network. In her spare time she enjoys golf, working-out, and being outdoors.

Ralph James Kownacki
Funeral Director, Schoedinger Worthington Chapel
Ralph is a graduate of Loyola University (Chicago) with a B.S. in Political Science; Graduate School of Management at DePaul University (Chicago); and Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. He has retired from the Defense Supply Center Columbus as the training director, worked at the U.S. Civil Service Commission as the assistant regional training director, and as a marketing representative for IBM Corporation. Ralph is a member of the Parents Board for Young Adults with developmental disabilities. He is active as a reserve police officer with the Columbus Division of Police, is a retired Major in the U.S. Army Reserve, former president of the Olentangy Highlands Civic Association, and past president of the Parish Council for St. Michael . Ralph and his wife Raenita have six children.

Amy Lizabeth Lopez
Homemaker
Amy graduated from the Ohio State University with a B.S. in Agriculture with a major in Animal Science. She spent twelve years in management with Nationwide Insurance and is currently starting a small business specializing in medical billing and claims consulting. Amy is a frequent volunteer for Colonial Hills Civic Association and is currently the chair of publicity committee of the Colonial Hills Elementary PTA. Hobbies include gardening, dog training and walking.

Sue A. McGuire
Branch Manager and Assistant Vice President, National City Bank
Sue attended The Ohio State University in the area of Business. She considers her greatest career achievement to date as Regional Manager for managing nine banking offices and a total of a half billion dollars in assets at the age of 27. She has received numerous recognition awards for above goal performance in loan growth and consistently achieving and exceeding branch goals. Sue is a member of the Worthington Area Chamber of Commerce, volunteers for the Worthington Adopt-a-School Program, Jr. Achievement of Central Ohio as a consultant with "at risk" students, Easter Seals of Ohio, Inc. as a campaign fund raiser and an annual guest speaker for the Center for New Directions at Columbus State Community College.

Gregory D. Miller
Vice President: Commercial Banking, National City Bank
Greg is a graduate of the Ohio State University with a B.S./B.A. in Marketing. He is a member of the Children's Hospital Development Board where he organizes fund raising events. His prior volunteer experience includes being appointed as a Loaned Executive for the United Way. Greg is married with three children.

Jennifer Johnson Nester
Regional Sales Manager, Roger Johnson Insurance, Inc.
Jennifer earned degrees in History and Political Science from Virginia Intermont College. She has been with Roger Johnson Insurance since 1993 and received her insurance license in 1995. Jennifer rode for the Virginia Intermont intercollegiate riding team and in 1992 won the Southeastern Championship. She has been nominated for Who's Who, was a Resident Assistant, a member of the tennis team and Director of Student Activities while in college. She is currently a member of the Dublin-Worthington Rotary Club and has been involved with Junior Achievement.

Jason Seabury
Associate, Baker & Hostetler LLP
A 1988 graduate of Worthington Christian High School, Jason received a bachelor's degree in 1992 from Westminster College, and graduated from Capital University Law School in 1998. Jason and his wife, Shelley, reside in Worthington where Shelley teaches math at McCord Middle School.

Carmen Seibold
Carmen has an A.S. degree in Nursing from Loma Linda University, a B.S. in Behavioral Sciences from Mount Marty College and a M.Div. from Fuller Theological Seminary. She has held various positions in nursing, including administration. Carmen has also taught ethics and religion courses at Pacific Union College. She is a board member of Amistad Foundation, for whom she has developed cross-cultural bilingual health curricula and done health education among the Huichol native peoples of Mexico. She is a retreat and conference speaker and writes for religious publications. Until her recent move to Ohio Carmen was a member of the executive committees of both the Pacific Union Conference and the Central California Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. Her major volunteer activity since relocating is with the Worthington Adventist Church, where husband Loren is senior pastor.

Loren G. Seibold
Senior Pastor, Worthington Seventh-day Adventist Church
Loren graduated from Walla Walla College with a B.A. in Theology, Seventh-day Adventist Theological (SDA) Seminary with a Masters of Divinity, and will complete his D.Div. at San Francisco Theological Seminary. He has served congregations in the Dakota (SDA) and as Pastor in Palo Alto, California. He was the Vice-president and founding member of the Samaritan Community Counseling Center in Palo Alto, a member of the Central California Conference Executive Board (SDA), member of the dissertation review committee of the San Francisco Theological Seminary, volunteer with Amistad Foundation, member of the Human Rights Committee of the US Veterans Administration. He currently serves as associate editor for Ministry magazine.

Pamela Jean Smith
Associate Medical Director, Medical Nutrition Research and Development, Ross Products Division, Abbott Laboratories
Pam attended Vassar and Radcliffe College receiving her B.A. in History. She attended Harvard University Graduate School of Arts and Sciences concentrating in Ancient Near Eastern Studies. Pam received her M.D. degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Her honors include the History Essay Prize at Harvard, Distinction in Psychiatry at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and mentor to semi-finalist L. Caprario in the Westinghouse Science Talent Search. She was Chairman of the Beachbrook Cooperative Nursery School Board of Trustees.

Gerald Anthony Sutton
Architect, self-employed
Jerry graduated from Kent State University with both a B.S. and B.A. in Fine/Professional Arts. He has worked for Ellis Myers Architects, Brown & Associates, 3D Group, and Schooley Caldwell Associates. Jerry is a member of the American Institute of Architects. He serves as the Vice President of the Rush Creek Community Association and has been working on Rush Creek's application to the National Registration of Historic Places as a historic district. He enjoys skiing and swimming. Jerry is married to Jamie and together they have two children, ages 5 and 7.

Amanda DeBernardi Trueman
Co-Owner, True Design Studios
Amanda graduated from Louisiana State University with a B.A. in Art Education. She has worked for Central High School (Louisiana) as an Art Instructor, and for Delta Gamma Fraternity as a Collegiate Development Consultant and Coordinator of Resource Development. Amanda was a member of Omicron Delta Kappa and Mortar Board. She is a member of Junior League of Columbus, the Worthington Area Chamber of Commerce, Worthington Presbyterian Church and Junior Achievement. Her major volunteer responsibility is as Delta Gamma Fraternity Province Collegiate Chairman.

James "Jay" H. Trueman III
Co-Owner, True Design Studios
Jay is a graduate of Mount Union College with a B.A. in Business. He has worked at Sea World as a marketing intern and for American Greetings as Sales Representative. He is a member of Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity, Worthington Presbyterian Church, the Worthington Area Chamber of Commerce, and Junior Achievement. He and his wife Amanda facilitate T.E.A.M. weekends for leadership development of college students.
