Leadership Worthington Graduates Class of 2004

Cathleen Elizabeth Allen works for Worthington Libraries and is the Manager of the Northwest Library. She returned to Ohio in 1998 after graduating from Bowling Green State University, a stint in the U.S Army, motherhood, a Master's Degree from Rosary College in Illinois and a reference librarian position in Midland Michigan. She volunteers with the Dublin Music Boosters and has participated in the American Cancer Society Relay for Life for the past 2 years. Cathy lives in the Olde Sawmill subdivision with her husband Dan and her son Scott and likes to spend her free time reading (go figure!), traveling or planning to travel and cooking.

Scott Armour is the Benefits Manager for R & L Carriers, a national trucking company, where he oversees the company's workers' compensation, health and life insurance, and short- and long-term disability programs. He previously was an attorney with several area law firms, where he limited his practice to workers' compensation and employment law. Scott received his B.A. from Grove City College and his J.D. from The University of Akron School of Law. He resides in Worthington with his wife JoAnn and his daughter Tori. Scott currently serves as a trustee of the Worthington Public Libraries, and as the chairperson of the Worthington Community Relations Commission.

Dave Arthur has been a resident in the Worthington area for the past 20 years, after having spent many years living in various Midwest Cities during a career featuring Industrial Engine Sales. Dave is a graduate of Drexel University (BS) and Central Michigan University (MA in Business). For the past 10 years, Dave has developed a successful residential real estate sales business with the Cam Taylor Company, Worthington, Ohio. Dave and his wife Jean are active participants in the Worthington Presbyterian Church Choir, enjoy golfing, traveling far and near and family dinners with their sons Dan and Scott.

Shayne Boyd is an Investment Representative for Edward Jones Investments in Worthington. He's from Lima, Ohio but has lived in Columbus since 1997. Shayne graduated from The Ohio State University and has been an assistant wrestling coach at Thomas Worthington for four years. Shayne really enjoys sports and the outdoors. He likes Buckeye athletics, the Denver Broncos, and the Colorado Avalanche. In Shayne's spare time he likes to barbeque, lift weights, run, roller blade, hike, canoe, and camp. Shayne is married to his high school sweetheart, Andrea. They have a dog named Daisy, a cat named Joey, and a ball python named Lucille." Candee Chambers has been employed with American Electric Power since 1989. She graduated from Bowling Green State University with a degree in Interpersonal and Public Communication, and has been in Human Resources since 1986. She currently manages a Co-operative Education program, recruiting engineering students from colleges throughout the United States and its territories. She also conducts training classes on diversity, fair employment practices, Equal Employment and Affirmative Action at various locations in the AEP territory. Candee is a member of the Worthington Area Business & Professional Women, All Saints Lutheran Church and is the Vice President of the TWHS Girls' Lacrosse Parents' Group. She resides in Worthington with her husband, Randy, and two daughters, Lindsay, a sophomore at Miami University and Meghan, a sophomore at Thomas Worthington High School, and three toy poodles. She enjoys playing golf, participating in her daughter's sports activities and cheering with her husband for Indiana University Basketball!

Susan Costakos-Slomka heads Investor Relations for the National Affordable Housing Trust, a non-profit organization whose mission is to create and preserve affordable housing primarily in partnership with their non-profit members: National Church Residences here in Columbus, Volunteers of America in Virginia, and the Retirement Housing Foundation in California. She attended Hawaii Pacific University, graduating with a BSBA in Accounting while serving as a Chinese linguist in the Army. She grew up in Columbus and is happy to be home. Susan lives in Worthington and is an active soccer mom to son, Connor.

Bill Diehl is the Business Development Manager for Prospect Bank. He has been in the banking industry for 13 years and with Prospect for the last two years. He graduated from Bexley High School and attended The Ohio State University. A Worthington resident for the past 11 years, Bill is very involved with his community and schools. He volunteers with PTA, and coaches various youth sport teams, of which his three daughters participate. Bill is a member of Rotary International and teaches Sunday school at St. Michael's in Worthington. When not at work or on a soccer field, he enjoys music, playing the guitar and spending time with his wife and children.

Brian D. Elder is the Financial Center Sales Manager for Sky Bank, Worthington. Brian joined Sky Bank in June 2003. He previously spent 16 years with Fifth Third Bank of Central Ohio. Brian is a graduate of DeSales High School and Ohio University. He served in the U.S. Army as a Quartermaster Officer. Brian is the head middle school football coach for the Columbus Crusaders. This program is a ministry of Grace Brethren Church. He enjoys reading and exercising. Brian resides in Westerville with his wife and two children.

Corinne Garvey is a lifelong resident of Columbus. A graduate of Upper Arlington High School, Corinne studied business at BGSU, OSU and Franklin University. A professional fundraiser for the past eleven years, Corinne has been the Executive Director of Harding-Evans Foundation in Worthington for the past two and a half years. Corinne resides in Upper Arlington and has two grown sons. Her volunteer activities include the Worthington Chamber of Commerce and the Buckeye Ranch Service Board. She enjoys cooking and traveling in her spare time.

Juliana Harper is the Career Mentorship Coordinator at Thomas Worthington High School. For the past three years she has been very devoted to Career Education in the Worthington School District by representing the high school and school district as one of the Career Education Leaders. She is a graduate of Beallsville High School and Ohio University where she majored in Family & Consumer Sciences Education. She will be graduating from Ashland University in December 2003 with a Master of Education Degree in Curriculum & Instruction with a specialization in Educational Technology.

James H. Houston III is the Worthington Banking Office Manger of The Huntington National Bank where he assists both consumer and business customers achieve their financial goals. He has been working in the banking field for six years and is just starting his second year with the Huntington. James is a graduate of Wittenberg University where he majored in History and Business Management.

Suzan Jervey is senior naturalist at Highbanks Metro Park where she is responsible for the park's educational programming. Suzan received a BS in natural resources and MS in agricultural education from The Ohio State University. Suzan is a cellist in the Westerville Symphony Orchestra and is active in a woman's philanthropic program to assist other women meet their educational goals. She lives in Worthington and enjoys quilting and spending time at her family's rural property.

Michael Kramer is a business development officer for Key Bank where he works with businesses providing them with their banking needs. Michael is a graduate of Delphos St. John High School, The Ohio State University with a BSBA in Finance and the University of Findlay with a Masters in Marketing. He is an active member in Rotary and the Chamber of Commerce, participating in various community events. Michael enjoys water skiing and spending time with his wife, Nicole, and new daughter, Natalie.

Carla Mader is currently the Hospital Administrator for the Animal Hospital of Worthington & Annex. She has worked as a Veterinary Technician in routine, emergency and specialty disciplines in the field of Small Animal Veterinary Medicine since 1987. Her educational opportunities have included the Animal Health Technician Program at Median School of Allied Health Careers in Pittsburgh, Pa., which is also where she is originally from. She has also attended two years each at The University of Akron and CSCC here in Columbus for under-graduate studies majoring in Biology with an Associates Degree equivalent. Carla will be continuing her pre-veterinary track to pursue admittance to The College of Veterinary Medicine at OSU. She resides in Hilliard with her husband, 15 year-old son and has a Bullmastiff "Rufus". Her hobbies include, touring on her motorcycle, reading and caring for her biotope aquariums.

Clint McManis works as a Security Coordinator for API Security Services, Inc. in Worthington. He is responsible for employee scheduling, customer relations, sales and complaints. Clint loves his job and the people he works with at API. He is married with two wonderful children, a boy (9) and a girl (17). He loves spending free time with his wife and children. His hobbies are reading and volunteering with his children's activities.

Andrew Miller is Manager of Sales and Service for AAA, The Ohio Auto Club. He is originally from Bellville, Ohio where he attended Clear Fork High School. Andy is a graduate with honors from DeVry University in Columbus with a degree in Business Administration. While managing AAA, Andy is active in the Worthington community participating in various events. In his spare time, he likes to golf, hunt and ski.

Vicky Naymik is from the Dayton area and has lived in Worthington for 13 years. She received a B.Sc. in Home Economics Education from The Ohio State University and taught for the Singer Co. and Columbus Public Schools. Vicky currently works in a classified position for Worthington Schools, taking on both short and long-term temporary assignments. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling with her husband, Tom, and spending time with their children, Katie, a graduate of Bowling Green State University and John, a recent graduate of The Ohio State University.

Dan Noble is a Commercial and Investment Real Estate Specialist with Group One Realty, Inc. He specializes in office/warehouse leasing and Business Brokerage. Dan attended Columbus North High School and The Ohio State University where he obtained a Bachelor of Science and a MBA in Finance. After working on the financial staff at General Motors Corporation for 10 years in Michigan and New York, he returned to Columbus and began a career in the custom home building business. He built and remodeled custom homes in and around Columbus for 16 years before moving into Commercial Real Estate. Dan's volunteer activities began in high school as class president, student council member at OSU, board director of the Building Industry Association, church governing board member and most recently on several committees with the Worthington Chamber of Commerce. Dan is married and currently remodeling his own home in Olde Worthington.

Judith L. Pinney-Hinkle started her own business, American Home Helpers in 2002. This company is a non medical home health care firm. She works as the Office Coordinator at API Security Services in Worthington. Judith formerly worked at Qwest Communications for over 16 years being one of the committee members to create the Quality Program in the Customer Service department and as Secretary at the Rutherford-Corbin Funeral Home, Inc. Judith lives in Worthington with her husband Robert and has two children who graduated Thomas Worthington High School. She is a member of Worthington Presbyterian Church, Worthington Historical Society and enjoys ushering and traveling.

Tina Rich is a project management consultant and trainer, helping individuals and teams develop to their full potential. Tina received a B.S.B.A. from Ohio State University, and is a certified Project Manager through PMI (Project Management Institute). She has resided in the Worthington school district for 20 years. Tina and her husband, Kacey Kowars, are active members of St. John's Episcopal Church in Worthington. Her daughter, Brittany Sharnsky, is a 2003 graduate of Worthington Kilbourne High School, now attending the University of Dayton.

Cheryl Ridgway was born and raised in Worthington. She graduated from Thomas Worthington High School and subsequently, The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. She is now a Career Advisor at DeVry University where she assists Computer Information Systems graduates with finding employment. Cheryl also works very closely with employers and potential students within the community. She recently enrolled in the Keller Graduate School of Management where she plans to obtain her MBA. Cheryl resides in the Worthington School District with her husband and one-year-old son.

Jenny Saboley, FLMI, is a Marketing Consultant in the Office of Business Strategy at Nationwide Insurance, where she has worked for 16 years. Her current responsibilities include project management, secondary research, and competitor intelligence. Her series of reports on M&A activity in the financial services industry was published in Research Review (The Journal of the Society of Insurance Research). Jenny is a graduate of Bexley High and a summa cum laude graduate of Franklin University where she majored in Finance. Her interests include reading (mysteries!) and gardening, but mostly spending time with her husband Ed and daughter Phoebe (1).

Richard Wetzel grew up on Long Island, New York. He graduated from Holy Trinity Diocesan High School in 1983 & subsequently, Wittenberg University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1987. Currently, Rich works for Union Capital Mortgage, which he joined in 2002 & helped to open the Columbus, Ohio office. Rich's personal approach with customers, underscores his passion for providing "best in class" customer service to each & every client. Prior to joining Union Capital Mortgage, Rich spent 14 years working in the Corporate Employee Benefits arena as a sales & customer service professional. Rich lives in Worthington with his wife Kimberly & her two children, Robby & Whitney.

Michael Wright is a funeral director/embalmer for Schoedinger Funeral Service, Schoedinger Worthington Chapel. He raised three children in Barnesville, Ohio and worked in the mining industry as a heavy equipment operator for 25 years. He then returned to school in 1994 and received an Associate Degree from Ohio University and a Bachelors Degree from Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. The Wrights have recently purchased a house in Chaseland and are enjoying redecorating the house. On hot summer weekends, look for him and his wife (in a red Jeep with the top down) somewhere in the Port Clinton area of Lake Erie.
